I am a seventh grader. I am 13 years old. I dream of going to an Ivy League college. What are the chances? I have straight A+, will be part of the National Honor Society, play the piano, and most of all: I attend a tennis academy in which I play 7-8 hours of tennis each day. I will be studying for my SATs soon. I will have many hours of community service. I will most likely be ranked top 25 in the country in tennis. I am planning to take mostly all honors and AP classes. I teach myself through textbooks (distance learning) and send my work each week to my teacher on the other side of the country. Money/tuition is not a problem for us. Please tell me if you think I will be accepted into an Ivy League. I really appreciate it, Thanks!
Well it sounds like you’re on your way, but don’t kill yourself trying to get in. There are plenty of reasons to go to state schools too, but if money isn’t an issue, than go right ahead and pay more for school. You should ask yourself why you feel you need to go to an Ivy league school. If you’re going into a field like business or political science it can be a big advantage to study under the professors that teach at the Ivy leagues, because they atract the best of the best. But if you’re studying a science as an undergraduate, you want to look at what programs are offered where and what projects you might get to work on while you’re there. There are so many good universities in the US, you should really figure out what you want first, then pick the University based on what they’re offering. The lure of status can be tempting, but think about what you want first. Good luck, and make sure to leave yourself some time for you.

i finished grade 2 with merit, homework is piling up and i dun think i can cope.its been 5 months since grade 2 and i think i just wasted $800.should i still continue wasting my money till grade 3 is over or should i quit now to cut cost.my siblings tuition fees are also high, and i dun think 1 more grade of piano can help me much
i keep missing notes, and i cant read the score,i have been like… playing since i am 6? i am 14 now????? GRADE 2??I WASTED AROUND 5K omg…and now the f cking recession.. i dunno if my parents have money to pay for my piano anymore
It shouldn’t be about the grades it should be about the passion and love you feel for playing. If you do not have that love or passion then I would say its time to move on and try something different.

I’m going to turn 16 pretty soon and I want to get a job to pay for piano tuition. I’m still in high school. Do I need a work permit or something from my school? I live in Southern California, for those that know near Walnut. I’m not so trusting of online-jobs. Where is a good place to work and what is it’s pay?
Thank you for your time and help
You will need a work permit, and usually your school will be the place to get it (check with your Career Center, ROP Program Coordinator). When I started working I was 15, and I worked Fast Food (always willing to hire a teenager) as well as working retail at the local mall. If you know what your career aspirations are you may be able to find work in yoru chosen field. For example, want to work with Animals? Try to see if the local vet is willing to hire you to clean animal cages or answer phones, or perhaps a local Dog/Cat Boarding facility may have some work. Good luck on your job search!

The tuition is very expensive as I thought…..is it possible to learn it urself by extracting knowledge from various media?
For pianists, what are the most vital things a beginner must know?
how long does it usually take u to learn to play full song of medium difficulty?
cheers mate
yeah it’s definitely possible. I just bougth a few teach lesson books teaching me about which key was what note(I think i was 13 or so, however I’d already played cello and guitar for several years and was taking AP music theory) and I could play pretty well after about a year or two. I teach lessons now and still have yet to take one myself (mind you i’m not exactly teaching concert pianists, i teach rock and jazz piano)
i treally depends on what medium difficulty means. medium for me might be different than for you, but it takes about a week or two for me to learn a song, and a bit longer to learn it well (by memory that is). I can sightread pretty much anything that isn’t ridiculous.
