Kinda just cover the bas eof the strings with your palm and play around with the placement. Thats what i do anyway.

The strumming …
The strumming pattern of the song is :
Down-Down-Down-Up- P.M. and Up to the other chord Down-Down-Down-P.M.
P.M. : Palm Mute, you must touch strings with the right hand and Down
Chords : Am, F, Dm, G and Am, F, G
For Dm an G, the strumming can be Up- Down-Down-P.M.

Let go of the chord …
Let go of the chord with your left hand but leave your fingers resting on the strings, and strum.
If you’re on an acoustic, you can also palm mute with your right hand at the same time, not at the bridge but a little closer to the sound hole. It’ll sound better.
