Teach Yourself Guitar
When
you see somebody playing guitar on stage or in a video they have
confidence. Accomplished guitar players are usually at one with their
instrument. Many people never really know if a guitar player has taken
lessons or not, sometimes it doesn't matter. But when you find out they
are self taught the challenge to teach yourself guitar becomes an
obtainable goal.
In order to teach yourself guitar you need to have the desire to learn
from yourself and overcome your faults. Some people have natural
talents and what looks effortless to them can be a real struggle to
you. The same goes for any type of learning, we are good at certain
things and sometimes we have to work really hard at others. So telling
yourself that you can't teach yourself guitar is a defeating statement,
have the confidence to challenge your self chosen faults.
There are good things and bad things about how to teach yourself
guitar. Even if you just want to perform for people for the fun of it
or plan to become a professional or session musician, you should learn
proper techniques and build upon them. Everybody has their own style
when playing guitar so making sure you have the basics down will give
you a solid foundation to build upon.
The challenge about how to teach yourself guitar is that you are only
accountable to yourself. There is nobody pushing you to keep learning,
those who pay for lessons have a financial stake in the learning
process. The best way to continue your self-education of guitar mastery
is to play for your friends or family. They will encourage you to keep
playing and many people are supportive when they find out that you are
taking on a self teaching role.
If you want to teach yourself guitar so you can impress somebody of the
opposite gender you should let them know so they can be involved in
your journey. When you want to give up or don't think you can ever play
like the pros you might get reactions that trigger you into continuing,
people want you to succeed when it comes to music. They might even be
inspired by you and want to teach themselves as well.
Self taught musicians have a certain amount of pride attached to their
talent. Sure, there is a desire to learn and if you stick with
something long enough it becomes easier over time. The accolade that
you taught yourself how to play can be its own reward. No two guitar
players sound the same and when you teach yourself guitar you create a
personal sound that another up and coming guitar player might want to
emulate.
One caveat about self taught guitar players is basically your own
limitations. There is no qualification on how to teach yourself guitar
and the only requirement is that you have a guitar to start with and a
desire to learn and have fun. Another great thing about learning how to
play guitar on your own is the satisfaction you get when you finally
figure out a song that has plagued you for years. There are many
milestones to celebrate and accomplishing this feat opens the door for
other challenges.
